Ideal candidates for laser hair removal are those with light skin and dark hair. Because the laser destroys the hair follicle by targeting hair pigment, it cannot discern between skin pigment and hair pigment, leaving those with more melanin at risk for burns and unsatisfactory results.
Laser hair removal is not painful, but it can be uncomfortable. The sensation is similar to the snap of a rubberband against the flesh. The treatment is generally well-tolerated and yields excellent results.
